It is not uncommon for our Risk Control Consultant to review plans that are outdated and contain irrelevant or improper information. We recommend that individual facilities and organizations thoroughly review all Emergency and Disaster Preparedness Plans on at least an annual basis or whenever significant changes have occurred within the operation. Updated plans should include current names and contact numbers of key people within the organization as well as diagrams of updated floor plans or any other specific information that may be useful during the planning, response and recovery of an emergency or disaster scenario.
Bonus Tip: September is a great month to review your plans, policies and procedures as it is also known as “National Preparedness Month.
