Term: Retail Refill Allowance |
|
Some plans may limit the number of prescription fills that can be made at a retail pharmacy before requiring members to fill prescriptions through the mail order pharmacy. This is known as a retail refill allowance. Most EBT plans have a 3 fill limit, the initial fill and 2 refills maybe done at a the retail pharmacy for maintenance medications, then subsequent fills must be made through the mail order pharmacy. In most instances if a member continues to fill a prescription at the retail pharmacy a 30 day supply will be dispensed but the member will be charged the mail order Co-Pay. |
