View Your EOBs Online


You don’t need to wait for your Explanation of Benefits (EOB) to arrive in the mail. You can see them online! They are a click away after you log in to your account at mycbs.org/health – Haven’t created your account? The registration process is simple, and will only take a few moments. Just click the Register button to get started.

With your username and password Login on mycbs.org/health under the Login to your Account header. Once logged-in, click on the My Claims History (EOBs) link located under the My Account header. This will direct you to the My Health Benefits at principal.com, where you will already be logged-on and have access to your account information.

From this page, click on the Claim Activity link -- this will bring up your Group Medical Claim History. In the Claim Overview chart that will appear, locate the issue date of the EOB you would like to view, and click the Details link under the View EOB header.

You can also utilize the Search feature, and search your EOBs by Issue Date, Patient Name, Dates of Service, and Provider Name.

Claims viewable from this page include the most recent 24 months of claim activity and are not necessarily a full or complete listing of all claims processed under this Member ID number. A hard copy of the EOB statement will be sent in connection with all claims, unless you have selected to receive your EOBs electronically.


EOB Delivery Options

To get your EOBs electronically you first need to login/register. Once logged-in, click on the My Claims History (EOBs) link located under the My Account header. Next you need to select Claims Activity followed by EOB Delivery Options.

To change the delivery method of your EOB statements click either the Sign Up for Electronic Delivery button or the Resume Paper Delivery button. The delivery option you choose will apply to all coverages available at the time of selection.

If you are having any difficulty reading your EOBs, from the My Health Benefits area, click on the How to Read Your EOB link, located under the Resources header. From this interactive view you will get a better understanding of how to read your EOBs, and how and why benefits were applied to a certain claim.

Understanding Your Explanation of Benefits

Each time you or your health care provider files a claim, an Explanation of Benefits, or EOB, is created explaining how we’ve calculated your benefits/payment. In an effort to help you better understand your EOB, we’ve created an annotated version below.

The EOB is not a bill. Rather, it provides details as to how benefits were applied to a particular claim. When you receive an EOB, you should review it closely and compare it to the receipt or statement given to you by your provider. The red numbers on the sample EOB refer to the definitions below.
